FMT200 Sets a new standard for rally intercom

The design of the Peltor FMT200 rally intercom is based upon more than 30 years of experience from the rally sport and close co-operation with several of the world´s leading rally teams.

A lot of the input comes from today’s top co-driver like Risto Mannisenmäki (driver Tommi Mäkinen), Nicky Grist (driver Colin McRae) and Louis Moya (driver Carlos Sainz).

The goal was to minimise the disturbing noise (fuss, distortion) from other electronics in the car, minimise the risk of wrong handling as well as maximise the audibility and the communication possibilities in the extreme environment of a rally car. This goal has guided the designing and the choice of material for Peltor FMT200. The new rally intercom is also developed with the possibilities to connect communication radio, GSM-telephone and outgoing signal for video.

Technical information

The FMT200 has a cover of aluminium with rear and front panels made of conductive plastic to minimise the influence of other electric signals in the rally car.

The front is designed to facilitate manoeuvring of the Peltor FMT200 intercom. It is manoeuvred by push buttons and the information about setting, levels e.t.c. is shown by LED’s.

At the rear one can find in/outputs for headsets and helmets, mobile phone, communication radio and audio output for signal to for example a video camera. The FMT200 is standard equipped with cables for headset/helmet and for power supply from the car battery. The FMT200 works also with an internal 9V battery.

Signal level for GSM phone and for communication radio may be adjusted.

Functions

There are different settings for stages/road sections and for driver/codriver. When "Stage" is activated, your personal settings for stages are selected and there are no external signals (GSM phones and communication radio) entering the system. At the "Road" settings, the complete communication is possible through GSM phone and communication radio.

A VOX function is possible to use when "Road" is selected. The result is a supression of noise when no communication takes place. This creates quiet and more restful road sections.

Peltor FMT200 Rallyintercom is approved in accordance to EN50081-1, EN50082-2 and ISO7673-1.

Lite-Com II 433 MHz with headband

The Peltor Lite-Com II gives unlimited two-way communication through its built-in 69 unlicensed channels radio as well as external connected comradio or cellular phone. For safety reasons the external system has signal priority. You may also connect CD player or FM radio and listen to news and music.

It has a built-in active-volume-function that lets you hear ambient noise like conversation or warning signals. Weak sound may be amplified, so you hear them better than you would without this hearing protectors. Two microphones pick up ambient noise and reproduce them in full stereo, so you can tell the direction of the noise. Sudden impulse noise at harmful levels are immediately attenuated.

When you set parameters you may either look at the LCD display or keep the headset on your head and listen to the electonic voice that tells you all about your settings.

Adjustable functions:
VOLUME - regulates the amplification of ambient noise
CHANNEL - Set channel for transmitting and receiving, automatic scanner if desired
MIX - radio/surrounding sound
VOX - Voice Controlled Transmission. Set the microphone sensitivity. May be disabled
SQUELCH -
BALANCE - for surrounding sound
