New Zealand has set a national standard for official stage notes. All official notes are produced by Jemba Safety Notes System. The main part of the competitors use a figure based system, but a descriptive system is available as well.

The following abbreviations are used:

Grade of corner (describes mainly the angle of the steering wheel or radius of the corner) and direction
